1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let the site remember things about your visit, such as preferences and session state. We also use similar technologies (local storage, pixels, SDKs) and treat them the same way under this policy.
We only set non-essential cookies after you give consent via our cookie banner. Strictly necessary cookies are set automatically because the site cannot function without them — UK law allows this.
2. Categories of cookies we use
Strictly necessary
Required for the site to work — for example, remembering your cookie choices, keeping form submissions secure (CSRF protection), and load balancing. These cannot be turned off in our banner, but you can block all cookies in your browser (some pages may then break).
Functional
Remember choices you make to give you a better experience — for example, remembering you've dismissed an announcement or chosen a theme.
Analytics
Help us understand which pages are useful and where the site can be improved. We use privacy-respecting analytics that aggregate data and do not build advertising profiles.
Marketing
We do not currently run advertising or retargeting cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before any marketing cookie is set.
3. The specific cookies we set
| Name | Provider | Category | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| om_consent | obedientminds.com | Strictly necessary | Stores your cookie preferences so we don't ask again every visit. | 12 months |
| om_session | obedientminds.com | Strictly necessary | Keeps your session secure while you use the pitch form. | Session (deleted on close) |
| om_csrf | obedientminds.com | Strictly necessary | Protects form submissions against cross-site request forgery. | Session |
| om_theme | obedientminds.com | Functional | Remembers display preferences such as light / dark mode. | 12 months |
| _pa_* | Plausible / privacy analytics | Analytics | Aggregated, anonymised page-view counts. No cross-site tracking. | Up to 24 months |
Cookie names and providers can change as we improve the site. We review this list at least annually and whenever we add a new tool.
4. Third-party cookies
Some pages embed content from third parties (for example, video from YouTube or posts from LinkedIn / Instagram). Those services may set their own cookies when you interact with their embedded content. We do not control those cookies; please see the relevant provider's policy:
- YouTube — policies.google.com/privacy
- LinkedIn — linkedin.com/legal/cookie-policy
- Instagram / Meta — facebook.com/policy/cookies
5. Managing your preferences
You can change or withdraw consent at any time by clicking “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page. This re-opens the banner and lets you toggle each non-essential category.
You can also manage cookies directly in your browser:
Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working — for example, the pitch form may refuse to submit.
6. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Where your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal we treat it as an objection to non-essential cookies and will not set them. There is no consistent standard for “Do Not Track” (DNT) so we do not rely on it alone — please use the banner or browser controls above.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when we add, remove or change a cookie. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be flagged on the cookie banner so you can re-confirm your choices.
8. Contact
